Lighting up Christmas @Oaklea

Profile: Oaklea, 18th Dec, 2018

Oaklea customers & staff in the North East have been holding an unbelievably sparkly Christmas Tree competition across our houses in Durham & Northumberland.

The customers & staff at Calstock take a quick break and forget where they put their decorated tree - all together now (as it’s panto season) ‘“It’s behind you!

Everyone across the NE got truly into the Christmas spirit and certainly banished any thoughts of a Grinch approaching!

NE Regional Manager and part time “Mother Christmas”, Stella Crennell; “Certificates were handed out to the winners and a raffle was also held - the whole event raised more than £300 -a truly fantastic effort by all!”

The sheer amount of entries means we can only give you a (seasonal) flavour - but I am sure you will agree they’ve done us proud! The awards covered “Best Traditional Tree”,”Best Original Tree” & “Best Themed Tree”.

Competition was pretty fierce and attempts to bribe the Judges with extra mulled wine and a fine mince pie curried no extra favour….even if the Judges were left a little tipsy -it’s a hard life at Oaklea Trust!

One of the Judges, HR Manager (and Oaklea rep for ‘Elf’ n safety), Helen Shaw, did a mad dash across the NE trying to squeeze in 9 Houses - Helen adds between sips; “A special well done to all of the other Christmas tree entries they were all so beautiful it was really difficult to choose a winner. I’ve got to put in a special mention to Calstock - they provided some amazing scones….my tastebuds were tickled but I remained fully neutral when it came to decision making!”

The team at Walby Hill, Rothbury, Northumberland -managing to dodge a montage of decs from around the NE - Walby Hill also won the best Christmas Jumper comp that was held across the Oaklea Group! Clearly they’re no ‘pullover’…… It’s a ‘win win’ for everyone!

The winners of best themed tree at Harelaw proudly clutching their certificate!

Positively glowing - And the winner of ‘most original tree’ - Shields Rd

And finally - here’s our winners from Hillside -for best traditional Christmas Tree
