On the 20th and 21st August, a team of six Oaklea Trust employees took on the Cumbrian three peaks challenge - a total of 45 miles over 36 hours!
Over the last few months, the team have been tirelessly fundraising for the Oaklea Trust’s Wishlist fund. Their efforts have paid off and the team have raised over £3,100 from friends, family, and local fundraising activities. Local supermarkets Asda, Morrisons and Booths in Kendal all hosted collections where the shoppers supported the team very generously.
The team’s fee to take on the challenge with the benefit of experienced guides, was funded by local businesses, which meant the entire amount raised by the team could go straight to Wishlist.
It is with thanks to TTL Accountants, Plain Creative, Diverse Health Solutions, Hays Recruitment, AK Fleet Solutions, MRC Training, Hygia Training, DE Ford, Sendtxts.com, and Ezitracker Ltd that the team have been able to complete their challenge with the knowledge that they’ve raised an incredible amount of money for the Wishlist.
Director, Sue Green, has said “the team have done a fantastic job and we’ve been absolutely amazed at the support they’ve been shown by their friends, family and the general public. The money they’ve raised will help us to fund a further 12 to 15 grant applications.”
Set up in 2009, Wishlist is maintained by fundraising and donations. The criteria for the grant fund is aimed at disabled or disadvantaged children aged up to 16 years, living in Cumbria, Lancashire, County Durham and Northumberland.
Existing Oaklea customers of any age and location are also encouraged to apply.
