Public engagement date announced for Alston

Profile: Oaklea, 07th Feb, 2020

Public Engagement session announced - confirmed times. We have just confirmed with the "Alston Old Primary Working Group" that the intention is to hold an informal engagement session for Saturday 29th February 1000-1200.

It’ll be a relaxed affair and held in the school hall at Samuel Kings. Key members of the working group will be attending - including Oaklea Operations Director, Alex Wolfenden.

It will be an opportunity to consult on wider public use of the building and what this could entail. Look forward to seeing many of you there -please spread the word amongst those who may not be on social media/internet. (Below - you can see Roe & Chris from the ‘Working Group’ holding up possible ideas for how the site could be used)

Background:

Before Christmas we announced we were working with a group of local people on Alston Moor (the ‘Alston Old Primary Working Group’) to transform the former buildings & site of the Primary School.

This public meeting in early 2020 will be an opportunity to share more information on what those plans could be -and we will want your input and thoughts!
The group are made up of interested parties from the Alston Moor area with expertise in a variety of areas -including sustainability, practicing architect, local democracy and community development. The Oaklea Trust strapline is ‘Building Stronger Communities’ -which is very much what we hope to achieve with the old primary site.
