Oaklea's CIC (Community Interest Co) Right2Work (R2W) has held its Annual Awards & Celebration. More than 150 people packed into Kendal Rugby Club to recognise all the achievements of the past year. It was an afternoon all about our staff and customers - and a chance to thank them and key partners. As you can see R2W Furniture Warehouse regular, Duncan, captured the vibe with his lively lifting of his award skyward!
The afternoon was set in motion by a speech from R2W Chair Phil Shea where he highlighted that these are exciting times for R2W: “We are looking at the direction the company will go whilst retaining its essential DNA. We will continue to enhance the learning, wellbeing and involvement in the Cumbrian community.” Then awards & certificates were handed out by The Mayor of Kendal Guy Tirvengadum and Lady Mayoress of Appleby, Jenny Morgan.
It was all about the people R2W have supported across Cumbria. Nicole, for example, from Barrow has been a huge success on the ‘Supported Internship’ programme - she now has a job at a local hotel thanks to the support from her job coaches and the effort she has put in.
Confident approach - We even got an impromptu speech from Robert - a trainee/learner from R2W when receiving his award!
R2W Director Susan Wigley: “It was a truly excellent showcase for what we do and what has been achieved in the past year. It also highlighted the very strong working relationships we have with key stakeholders -ranging from the FE Colleges to Local Authorities, the DWP and far beyond. R2W is all about nurturing potential and the celebration event clearly demonstrated that - it was a great afternoon and many thanks to all those who attended and shared this success.”
