The Oaklea Trust are not accommodation providers but, by working closely with agencies and organisations who offer comprehensive and appropriate housing support for disabled people of all ages within the local community, we are able to advise and support you in your accommodation choices.
Independence is something which most of us take for granted but, in the UK, less than a third of people with a learning disability have the choice of who they live with and less than half have any options as to where they live.
There are nearly 30,000 adults with a learning disability who live with parents aged 70 or over, many of whom are too old or frail themselves to continue in their caring role. The options for future care for these people can be very limited and in stark contrast to the familiar family home.
By offering independent and impartial advice, the Oaklea Trust can help you choose the right accommodation from approved and accredited providers, where people can be supported in a safe and secure environment.
Throughout the UK the Oaklea Trust works with, amongst others, Fairoak Housing, Two Castles Housing Association and Impact Housing.
