Helping Us

The Oaklea Trust are privileged to employ some truly wonderful people who have a true vocation for helping and caring for people.

However, it isn't always paid professionals who achieve the most - sometime the greatest results and the biggest strides forward are from work with volunteers. We are extremely fortunate to have people are willing who donate their time and expertise to help people less fortunate than themselves in ways which are not always apparent.

During group activities or at our leisure clubs, it is always welcome to have an extra pair of hands and a new face is always great to see, but a lot of our customers benefit from less obvious involvement.

A number of our volunteers are themselves disabled or disadvantaged in some way. They understand another person's situation, can relate to the emotions and frustrations they are experiencing and are able to provide a 'mentoring' role and talk about their aspirations and expectations.

Voluntary work with the Oaklea Trust can be demanding but the rewards, both for customers and helpers alike, are simply immeasurable.

If you think you'd like to help, at whatever level you feel appropriate, then please do get in touch - we'd be delighted to hear from you.
