As part of ongoing training and development with Oaklea it is essential that those supporting & caring for those we support have First Aid/Emergency Aid training.
This week sessions took place across the organisation – we caught up with this day long training at the South Lakes Foyer.
“You go first Paulina – I’m out of breath!”
They came, they took part – they left with a pass + then some!
Employees from Carlisle to Windermere to Furness to Kendal took part. It involved staff directly engaged through their social care work at Oaklea as well as people from our CIC Right2Work.
Marie has this covered…from every angle!
The training was led by Marie Corry (MRC Training). Here’s a gallery of some of what we learnt with a very hands on Marie…This included CPR training against the clock (via an app which told you if you were doing it right!)
Why we do this…
Here at Oaklea and Right2Work we ensure that all of our employees are fully trained in Emergency Aid. We work with external training providers at MRC Training and FMC Training in the North West of England and Hygia Training in the North East to ensure our workforce are trained to an extremely high standard.
Here’s HR Manager, Helen Shaw: “Our employees really enjoy attending their emergency aid training and are able to demonstrate how to resuscitate, how to use a defibrillator and how to put someone into the recovery position. Ensuring that we’re all emergency aid trained is a key competency for all job roles at the Oaklea Group. All job roles have a structured training plan and training report, which ensures the mandatory training is monitored an kept in date along with relevant additional training, which may be required from time to time.”
Helen adds: “Development for all employees in terms of completing qualifications in their job role forms part of the employees annual Performance and Achievement process. This enables employees to discuss their future career prospects with the line managers with a view to obtaining a qualification, which is relevant to the employees job role. This enables employees to feel invested and supported in their role and supports employees retention.”
Laura’s on a roll….just as well!
It’s not just those at the sharp end of social care who have to take part. Here you can see Exec PA Laura getting to grips with Anna from our Corporate Finance Team – she clearly isn’t ‘corpsing’….!
