Care that simply slides in on the quiet!
You may have noticed there’s been a fair bit of the white stuff over the past few days – well it didn’t put a stop to some of our customers & employees – no sirreee! (you could say it kinda ‘snowballed’…)
You will see below great examples of our (social care) values writ large -“Be kind, be part of the team, be innovative, be focussed, be productive, be respectful, be resourceful”
A Great Entertainer emerges…

Haydn, one of our support team in Kendal, decided to clear the snow in the garden the traditional way… Click on the video to enjoy more of his antics – much to the amusement of his colleagues and customers like ‘The Mighty Desmondo‘ (clearly guffawing away with seasonal merriment!)
Bernice Dean, who managed to film the above whilst keeping a straight (ish) face: “When at work entertain the team.” (we try our best B!)
Here’s a tip for Haydn – next time – call Ulverston!
Oaklea Registered Manager for Furness, Sue ‘Milly’ Millington “This is Simon – he’s our very own snowplough…Nothing stops him!”

The Great Outdoors goes Indoors…
No to be outdone – at Manor Barn they spent the snowy weekend getting fully Christmas ready!

True grit – we demand our xmas pud!
All this means no longer gritting (teeth) and we can head on our sleigh & head for some seasonal sustenance says Mark

Hungry Reindeer? – No silly – ‘Hungry Horse’!
Mother Christmas, aka Sue ‘Milly’ Millington again: “Christmas has come early for Barrow customers who attend the Adult Learning Healthy Living Group. They had lunch at the ‘Hungry Horse‘, lucky them! You can see Sam, Carol, Robert, Mark Q, Mark S, Janet and Tracy all from different Oaklea houses in Barrow having a fabulous time together.”
Go easy on the ketchup Janet! (we know a rival Registered Manager in South Lakes –Alex-Mayo– -who will ‘ketchup’ with you!)

It’s never too early to ‘Jump’ into Christmas?
Elsewhere in non food related trimmings – The New Road team had their weekly meeting -unfortunately Dotti Gibbons was the only one that got the memo regarding Chrimbo jumpers!

Spirit of Christmas – it’s a day by day thing!

Oh and lets not forget to mention – some of our employees and those we support are featuring a lot in this years National Care Forum (NCF) online advent calendar. Already we have had 3 videos shown – young Jacob on #HAF2023 activities, Steve C (and his mum Michelle) on his return to the Oaklea family and Philip celebrating how Trustees make such a vital contribution.
Go to this link to see them in all their glory! https://www.nationalcareforum.org.uk/door/2/?post_type=door&p=99460

Finally….’hark the herald’ – is that Santa at the door?
Steve C things he may hear sleigh bells…..or is it just the sound of the snowplough?
