The Bank Holiday and Half Term have seen a plethora of activities across Oaklealand that deliver this! Plus it is no surprise – we are (always) ready for action – aren’t we Richard!
We took on all comers in different ways!
Richard had a great day travelling back in time to the middle ages with Danielle! (he even crossed swords with her…a high risk activity indeed!)
“We enjoyed the battle re-enactment at Muncaster Castle – archery, crossbow shooting and axe throwing! We also enjoyed ticking off all the stuff on our mediaeval passport. Luckily we both made it out alive – just about!” Danielle Hannan

As far as we are aware Richard made it back home and didn’t face the stocks!
Meanwhile if you go down to the woods
Thanks to the torrential non stop rain the Short Breaks young people’s trip to Rydal Hall in the Lakes saw a true battle – against the elements! We ‘walkied the talkie’ – and not even the Met Office could help!
The CYP gang headed deep into the Lakeland foliage for a bush craft session in the grounds of 15th C Rydal Hall. Great credit must go to the young people who attended a full day session in terrible weather – the tarp definitely proved a saviour! It was a very ‘hands on session!
Creating shelters, putting up the bivvy and having a green tree canopy adventure – made all the sweeter with some camp fire hot chocolate – an essential to lift spirits and very very welcome!

Elsewhere Kelvin had a very rewarding time – indoors! He fought off all comers to bring home yet more trophies at Taekwondo.

We’re in safe hands in Oaklealand!
All that outdoor & indoor energy being expended….we may need to call on the emergency services (especially with that pocket rocket stove Rachel!) As luck would have it Oaklea customers in County Durham had an educational – and dare we say – fun trip to the blue light HQ in Barnard Castle.
Our very own fourth emergency service, Nic Bainbridge tells us more:
“Max, Caroline, Digby, Pauline, Amanda and Laura enjoyed a visit to meet the emergency services, having a look at the fire engines, police and learning more about fire awareness and who to call.”
