In good company – together we thrive
“We are dedicated to making sure that people’s individual preferences and choices are at the forefront.” Roisin Burton, Oaklea Director of Care
Putting people at the heart of what we do – it’s a case of full steam ahead in the North East!

It’s best illustrated by ensuring those we support live their best lives – all part of the “7 keys of citizenship“.

Oaklea have a large presence in County Durham – in fact we celebrated 21 years there not so long ago!

Stuck in the middle of you & it’s all good!
One of our newer members of staff, Michelle Godfrey has been out and about with her team in Ferryhill, County Durham, over the past few days -and gives a snapshot of some of the things you could get up to if you work in social care. Here you can see some of the guys we support – making the most of life.

But before we depart our front row seat – You can hear from Michelle on what she loves about her role on our You Tube channel

To the middle aisle we go!
Making sure people live as independently as possible – supporting our customers at the shops – like doing their food run at their nearby Tesco.

It’s also about good times – says Adrian!

As well as doing the basics like hunter gathering – our care teams also go out on visits and trips. Here you can see Adrian ‘al-packing’ a lot in at Mainsgill Farm near Richmond at the weekend.
One man & his flock….

Getting crafty
Time is also spent doing things at home – being productive with a sense of purpose! (Getting in those “7 Keys” remember!)

On a roll…
It’s also about being together – and sharing moments – enabled by our care teams. It gives us all:
- A sense of belonging & purpose
- Emotional support
- Tasks/activities are often easier when done together

Why we do what we do

Roisin Burton, Oaklea Director of Care: ” We are dedicated in supporting and ensuring that individuals are at the centre of everything we do. This is underpinned by making sure that their preferences and choices are at the forefront.”
