Back to the future with Jemma!
“She has worked extremely hard and deserves this opportunity.” Sophie Bramble, Right2Work
Over the years we have celebrated many examples of people we have supported and the progression they have made. A great example of this is Jemma Marsden.
She came – she saw – she engaged

Jemma used to take part in our Short Breaks and young people’s activities over many years – she enjoyed it so much she ended up being part of the Oaklea Young People’s Team -as a Youth Support worker – a trip down memory lane here https://www.oakleatrust.co.uk/heres-one-she-made-earlier/
Jemma’s journey continues
Now Jemma has just completed a year long Supported Internship with our Right2Work CIC -a programme that helps eligible young people into the workplace (find out more here https://www.right2work.org.uk/supported-internships/ )
This has resulted in her returning to the Oaklea fold with a role as a Support Worker at an Oaklea property in Kendal.

“We are so happy to have jemma on our team. It’s a huge success story within Oaklea that definitely should be celebrated!” Becki May, Team Manager, Manor Barn
Here to serve – Here’s Jemma getting stuck in at MB

You folks look familiar!

“Here you can see some of the Supported Intern’s from this year from South Lakes who have finished with us. They started with us in September and have all had a really successful year. Myself, Kirstie, Clare and Kevin are all proud of their hard work and commitment throughout an incredible year. Jemma got a job with Oaklea Trust as a Support Worker following a work placement at Garth Brow and Manor Barn. She has worked extremely hard and deserve this opportunity. Harvey (who lives at an Oaklea property) is going back to college to do his Level 1 Catering after doing some work experience in the canteen and restaurant kitchen at Kendal College.” Sophie Bramble from Right2Work.
As we mentioned Harvey – here he is at Merewood Hotel in the Lakes on his Supported Internship

Mum’s the (last) word…
“Thank you for all your support this past year – You all have been amazing with Jemma” Mum, Christine Marsden
Left for a visual metaphor & a future in social care
We know she’s used to doing the heavy lifting…and is very much in the driving seat! (Helping on Oaklea Young People’s trips in Summer 2023 at Lakeside and Summer 2022 at Grizedale Forest)

Well that’s enough – Jemma must depart….she has work to do! (on a trip with the guys she now supports..)
