Giving back – It’s volunteer week!

“It really is a rewarding role – I’ve made new friends and made a difference.” Jane Sullivan, R2W Chair

Today marks the start of Volunteers Week 1-7 June -something we recognise every year.

Our focus this year is very much on those who give up their time as volunteer Trustees at Oaklea and Board members at our CIC Right2Work (R2W).

Numbers add up for Andy

Lets go to work – Lindsay, Andy & Michelle fully accounted for!

This is Andy Scott – he’s been a volunteer Trustee with Oaklea for several years now. His background is in financial services and accountancy. So not surprisingly he has an important role in assisting the Oaklea Group Finance team – both on a day to day basis and at a strategic level.

Rewarding role – and you make new friends!

Meet Jane Sullivan – she is the Chair of our CIC Right2Work.

“Five years ago I decided to give something back to my community and became a volunteer Board Director of a Community Interest Company – Right2Work. Our mission is to support and care for people and communities so they can learn, develop and thrive. We have a range of activities across Cumbria. I’m now Chair of the Board.”

Looking for new faces

Jane says R2W would love to hear from you if you would like to join the Board.

“We’re looking for 2-3 people to join us and support the amazing organisation that R2W is. If you can use your knowledge to help guide our organisation and want to find out more – please get in touch with me. It really is a rewarding role and I’ve learnt a lot about strategic thinking, made new friends and made a difference.”

Jane adds: “We have specific skills gaps in the following areas but welcome all applications..”

  • Marketing & Sales
