It’s D-Day for Helen as she goes back in time!
This week we’re supporting Carers Week -and we have 2 very appropriate examples of how our care teams ensure those we support make the most of their lives.

For those about to go travelling -we salute you!

Oaklea’s Paulina Mallee has just returned from taking Helen from Kendal on a fun packed trip to the NE coast in Northumberland. As you can see they managed to squeeze a lot in – from watching Puffins to taking part in a D-Day 81st Commemoration at Bamburgh Castle.
The grand tour took in:
- Bamburgh Castle & D-Day Commemoration
- Farne Islands boat trip
- Craster (what no Kippers?)
- Beadnell Bay
- Berwick on Tweed
- Seahouses

“Carers Week 2025 takes place from June 9th to 15th, and the theme is “Caring About Equality”. This week-long event aims to raise awareness about the challenges faced by (especially unpaid) carers and celebrate their vital contributions. The focus will be on highlighting the inequalities they experience and advocating for a fairer society where they have greater support.” Carers UK
Stepping up in style
Your room awaits….Helen & Paulina stayed in a cottage in Seahouses – they hasten to add the best rooms in the Castle were already taken!

Meanwhile by ‘Shear’ luck…

Elsewhere – and continuing the NE based excitement. Our intrepid County Durham based adventurers from Barnard Castle headed to the Bowlees Education Farm in Upper Teesdale. Kendra Richards and Nichola Bainbridge from Oaklea Care & Support made this video of Max, Pauline & Andrew! (they saw horses getting new shoes, sheep being sheared & meeting lots of furry friends!
