Good things must come to an end for now – our Young People’s summer activities that is! (but we’ll be back….)
Hitting new heights!
Over the summer school holidays our CYP Team delivered:
- 16 separate trips (6 Short Breaks & 10 HAF)
- 12 young people per trip
- 192 places were filled
We’ll leave you to do the rest of the maths – it’s a RESULT by any measure -or target (we set ourselves)!
Ok – Tis true -The sessions ended on a real high – quite literally!
Oaklea Short Breaks went to the Scout HQ – Great Tower Activity Centre – deep in the woods above Windermere.
The day involved a morning spent getting prepped for a session of ‘Crate Jenga‘ with our two excellent instructors from Argentina & Brazil!

As you can see it was all about team work, agility, balance, bravery…and giving each other a lift!

In the afternoon it was time to really hit those targets – with an Archery session!

There would have been archers here once! The #HAF2023 activity day took us to Sizergh Castle!

Few people realise that Association Football originated in the grounds of Sizergh Castle* – just with very different rules! They shoot….they joust!
*We may just be ‘jousting’ with you…..says Sizergh FC Historian!
Grounds for doing “The Milly”
One of the big things we learnt over the summer -apart from eating healthily and making new friends etc – was the very particular stance our supreme Youth Leader Milly took – you can try it at home – hands on hips now…and relax! (don’t worry we won’t send you to the Tower – you folks are ‘keepers’!)
