Having a very Terry er Merry Christmas

An intrepid band of Oaklea customers have landed from a ‘galaxy far far away’ – South Lakeland to be precise – to decorate our tree for the Annual Charities Christmas Tree Festival at Kendal Parish Church. (Customer Terry can be seen putting on the final touches). The festival takes place over the Christmas period and raises funds for all the charities involved as well as being quite a spectacle for those who go to see it!

Customers from Oaklea houses in Kendal were invited to create their own decorations and come up with a relevant theme -this year is ‘favourite films’ – hence they chose Star Wars n Cowboys -what’s not to like? (clearly an understated element of the traditional Yuletide tale).

Vanessa Washington, Team Supervisor from Oaklea has co-ordinated the effort: “I know all the customers have enjoyed the process of making the decorations. Frances especially loved making the snowman and angels and would tell everyone which ones she had made. Decorations have been made at free times whilst waiting for tea or just before retiring to bed. Glitter is still present on the dining table due to the grooves on the table! A few decs can be seen round the house and customers are very proud of their achievements. It has been really enjoyed by staff and customers and a great way to start the buildup towards Christmas.”

Big tidings of joy shout out to Frances, Des, Robert, Alan & Terry – superb effort!

You can go and see the 7th Annual Charities Christmas Tree Festival at Kendal Parish Church – put LA9 5AF into your sat nav – it’s on Kirkland and well worth popping in!
